On Wednesday of the first week we weren't expected in the college kitchens, as we were going to see a local honey farm.
A group of students and teachers from Romania went with us. We all piled up in a minibus and one of the college's teachers drove us to the farm.
We reached a building and were guided into a very well heated room. A little too well heated. There were three heaters hung from the ceiling!
Luckily after a while the man who held a lecture on honeybees shut off two of the heaters.
We learned new things about bees and bee keeping.
We also got to see the frame from a beehive, where the queen lays its eggs.
More info on how the honey is collected.
We also got to taste different honeys made by the bees of the farm in different times of year, and two honey combs, one without the beeswax and one with. I think I still found wax in my teeth 8 hours later :D
These two were my favourites, late summer honeys.
After the trip to the farm we were driven back to the college, from where we walked to town again.
The building I had been looking for: the Majestic Cinema!
But first, some lunch! I had my first Yorkshire pudding at Roasta Café.
The younger student and the teacher wanted to go and see the church nearby, so I had a chance to walk around town on my own. Ah, the bliss of walking all by myself with great music playing on my tablet! I walked around, seeing what kinds of stores there are, and when it got too cold, I went to Starbucks and got a well-deserved venti caffe latte!
It is a pity that all the stores, cafés and fast food places close at 5:30. On weekdays. Back home people are getting home from work and only starting to pile into stores at 5:30! I was asked to leave Starbucks and go back into the cold. Luckily I still had some coffee left, so I walked around in the dark, empty streets, trying to make the time pass by.
I wasn't ready to go back "home", because I was waiting for it to be 8 pm. I ran into the younger student and we sat in Costa coffee shop for about half an hour. We left just before they closed and then went back to the cinema.
It was the opening night of Deadpool! A hilarious movie, even though it has a few things that aren't accurate. But still, I enjoyed it.
We took a taxi back home and went almost straight to be. The next day was going to be very interesting!
